01What is OpenClaw?
OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent framework. Over the months before February 2026 it drew a burst of developer activity, and the most visible experiments run onchain on Base, where OpenClaw agents create wallets, deploy tokens, earn trading fees and pay for their own inference without human input.
In the first three weeks of OpenClaw projects launching on Base, the ecosystem shipped one App Store-approved app, 52+ deployed smart contracts, 7+ live production apps, $51K+ in verified Stripe revenue and 50K+ token launches processing about $194M in volume.
02Who built OpenClaw?
OpenClaw was created by Peter Steinberger, who, as of February 2026, had recently been hired to work with OpenAI. His reduced involvement is one of the framework risks the report flags, alongside the likelihood that OpenAI ships its own tooling.
The projects built on it are run by operators with public track records: Austen Allred (Lambda School, Gauntlet AI), Austin Griffith (scaffold-eth, Ethereum Foundation), Nat Eliason (Growth Machine, "Crypto Confidential"), and Geoffrey Woo and Jake Paul of Anti Fund, which runs $65M+ in AUM. One project, Clawnch, has an anonymous builder.
03What tokens are built around OpenClaw?
The report covers five, all launched on Base between January 25 and February 6, 2026:
- KellyClaude ($KELLYCLAUDE): an autonomous app factory that ships iOS apps; launched January 30.
- Clawd ($CLAWD): open-source primitives other agents fork, including nerve cord for encrypted agent coordination; launched January 25.
- Felix ($FELIX): agent CEO of The Masinov Company, selling playbooks, skills and services; launched February 2.
- Clawnch ($CLAWNCH): an agent-only token launchpad taking 20% of trading fees; launched January 31.
- Anti Hunter ($ANTIHUNTER): an autonomous onchain venture desk and treasury manager; launched February 6.
All five are down 93% or more from their February 25 valuations. On October 17, 2026 their market values ranged from $0.06M to $0.48M, and $FELIX, $CLAWNCH and $ANTIHUNTER traded under $500 a day, which leaves no practical liquidity.
OpenClaw founder and token tracker
Five OpenClaw tokens by builder and function. FDVs are as of February 25, 2026.
| FDV | Founder | X followers | What it does | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ~$9.6M | Austen Allred | 448K | Autonomous app factory shipping iOS apps to the App Store, plus BuildMyIdea.com, where users pay for AI-built apps. | |
| ~$7.6M | Austin Griffith | 67K | Open-source primitives other agents fork: nerve cord (encrypted agent coordination), commit-reveal game mechanics and token-gated access. | |
| ~$4.6M | Nat Eliason | 86K | Agent CEO of The Masinov Company, selling Claw Mart, Polylogue and the "How to Hire an AI" playbook. | |
| Clawnch$CLAWNCH | ~$6.9M | Anonymous | n/a | Agent-only token launchpad taking 20% of trading fees, plus the Clawncher SDK, Clawtomaton agent framework and ClawnX X API wrapper. |
| ~$1.6M | Geoffrey Woo and Jake Paul | 27K and 4M | Autonomous onchain venture desk with public treasury tracking, automated fee distribution and multi-term staking with early-exit penalties. |
04How do OpenClaw agents make money?
- App building: KellyClaude sells AI-built apps through BuildMyIdea.com for $2,000+ each and has one confirmed App Store app; its total revenue is undisclosed.
- Digital products: Felix generated $51K+ in its first 24 days, counting Stripe transactions only, from a $29 playbook, the Claw Mart marketplace and Polylogue.
- Launch fees: agents on Clawnch earned $1.94M in fees since January; at its stated 20% share, that implies about $480K for the platform.
- Treasury trading: Anti Hunter reported about $200K in treasury and $140K in realized PnL since its February 6 launch.
The report set verified external revenue of $1M by Q2 2026 as the test. The last public figure found was about $200K of Felix revenue in early March 2026, with no evidence the five reached the threshold.
05Do token holders capture the value?
Only partly. Felix runs systematic burns exceeding $100K, and Clawd runs an onchain Incinerator burning 200M+ $CLAWD a week with a published no-sell commitment. KellyClaude's buyback is unconfirmed and non-binding, Anti Hunter's buy-and-burn is at the team's discretion, and Clawnch captures fees automatically but its use of them is not enforced.
06What are the security risks?
OpenClaw carries a disclosed vulnerability, CVE-2026-25253, and 430K lines of attack surface. One bad agent permission can be fatal: a $LOBSTAR agent reportedly sent 5% of supply to someone who prompted it on X. Agentic token funds have a record of multi-sig failures, smart contract exploits and opaque treasury management, although the report rates smart contract risk low for all five tokens.
07How does it compare with other agent frameworks?
Security concerns have spawned competing forks, including NanoClaw, ZeroClaw and PicoClaw, and OpenAI is expected to ship its own tooling. If the leading agents can run on any framework, the competition validates the model rather than threatening it; tokens tied to OpenClaw specifically, such as Clawd and Clawnch, carry the most framework risk.
Against the Q4 2024 AI agent cycle, the difference is verifiable output. Among launchpads, the comparables are PumpFun, which generated $2M+ a day in fees at its peak, and Virtuals Protocol, which reached a $3B+ market cap.
08What should we watch next?
- External revenue: verified revenue from outside the ecosystem, the test that separates a sustainable economy from a circular one.
- KellyClaude: a second App Store approval with revenue transparency.
- Felix: sustaining its revenue pace past the first month.
- Clawnch: developers building on the Clawncher SDK and Clawtomaton, not only launching tokens.
- Anti Hunter: a first profitable exit that returns cash to holders through a defined mechanism.
- Developer adoption: builders outside the founding teams forking and integrating these tools.
